On this occasion, CanTho University also honourably receives the 120 distinguished guests from the U.S Department of Foreign Affairs, the U.S Department of Interior, the U.S Embassy to Viet Nam, the Vietnamese Government Office, Ministry of Education and Training, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Department of South-western Environment Reservation, Provincial People Committees and other relevant provincial departments in the Mekong River Region, central and local media and press.
Attending the ceremony, the United States Delegation includes the U.S Dept. of State’s Assistant Secretary Ms. Anne Murray, the American Ambassador to Vietnam Sir Micheal W. Michalak and other US high ranking official.
In the launching ceremony, the Rector of CanTho University and US Ambassador to Vietnam signed the charter on collaboration relations and long-term experience sharing between the Mekong River Delta in Vietnam and the Mississippi River Delta in the United States, in which emphasizes the impact research on climate change and mitigation – adaptation solutions.
On the same day, the site representatives of CanTho University and US Embassy had a chamber ribbon-cutting to inaugurate the opening to DRAGON institute – Mekong – CTU, located in the building of the College of Environment and Natural Resources.
