On the afternoon of April 7, 2022, U.S. Ambassador Marc E. Knapper together with Ms. Ann Marie Yastishock - Mission Director of USAID/Vietnam and his delegation had a working session at DRAGON-Mekong Institute, Can Tho University (CTU) on issues related to ecological balance, environmental activities and climate change in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta (VMD). Through projects from USAID, the United States continues to support theVMD in adapting to and mitigating the impact of climate change and environmental degradation.
Assoc. Prof. Van Pham Dang Tri gave a speech at the opening of the meeting and briefly introduced the DRAGON-Mekong Institute, challenges and problems in the VMD. Besides, Assoc. Prof. Van Pham Dang Tri also introduced about the partners and research programs that have been and are looking forward to being implemented at the Institute and the University.

U.S. Ambassador Marc E. Knapper expressed his interest in environmental issues and climate change in the VMD, looking forward to finding and building lasting cooperation to support the VMD's sustainable development. U.S. Ambassador Marc E. Knapper alsoexpressed his desire to establish a long-term cooperation relationship with CTU, of which DRAGON-Mekong Institute is one of the key partners. The Ambassador also showed an interest in issues of socio-economic development in the VMD, especially the green economy, circular economy, resilience and adaptability to climate change of the local community.
