The Delta Research And Global Observation Network in Mekong Institute (DRAGON-Mekong Institute) commonly known as Research Institute for Climate Change was found in June, 2008 under initiative proposed by Vietnam and United State of America. As a premier institute subordinated to Can Tho University, DRAGON-Mekong Institute is design to become an internationally recognized center of excellence for research and training on the impacts of climate change on major river deltas, and enhancing the resilience of delta communities and ecosystems to climate change.
It continues the establish tradition of approaching the processes in teaching and research as well as other services in this area. The research activities taking place at DRAGON-Mekong Institute focuses on providing a range of scenarios of showing how climate change will affect temperatures, water resources, agriculture, and many other areas both globally and regionally. It is a prior academic integrity to coordinate and collaborate in in multi-disciplinary and cross-sectorial research on climate change in the Mekong Delta and other major river deltas. DRAGON-Mekong Institute works hard to promote the development of encouragement of links between scientists, local communities, government institutions and other stakeholders. With our partnerships throughout the DRAGON network, the research center achieves national and global reach. DRAGON-Mekong Institute works hand in hand with with diverse stakeholders across the world. These cooperative efforts allows us to create pathways to a climate resilient future.
