On November 06th and 07th, 2016, the training course ”Participatory Irrigation Management (PIM) in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam” was convened by Research Institute for Climate Change, Can Tho University (DRAGON Institute – Mekong) at Can Tho University (CTU).
Participants of the training course included representative of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in An Giang Province, Departments of Irrigation in Long An, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh, Dong Thap, An Giang, Bac Lieu, Kien Giang and other representatives of sub-regional Management Boards in An Giang Province.

During two-day training, participants have gained knowledge from:
- Regulations, policies relating to management exploitation of irrigation effectively in Vietnam.
- Criteria and condition for implementing PIM.
- Irrigation management transfer mechanism.
- Local plan-making of PIM.
Besides, learners have discussed, contributed ideas, expressed the pros and cons as well as solutions in implementing of PIM in the project area.

After the training course, attendants have assessed the highly effectiveness of achieved results. In addition, its outcome have met people working PIM’s expectations and contribute to reasonable and effective water resources management. This is a basic for facilitating PIM model that can be widely replicated and implemented in other areas.
