Hue City hosted a workshop called "Application Solutions for a Sustainable Smart City" in the afternoon of June 6th, 2022, which was organized by Thua Thien Hue Provincial Development Research Institute (HueIDS) in collaboration with Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom - Germany in Vietnam (FNF) and International School - Hue University. Experts, guests from Turku City (Finland), Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, and experts in the fields of Smart Cities and Circular Economy attended the workshop. Assoc. Prof. Van Pham Dang Tri – Director of the DRAGON-Mekong Institute, Can Tho University, as well as the institute's staff, participated the workshop.
The presenters in the workshop explore a variety of issues, including "The status of smart cities in Thua Thien Hue province and proposed solutions in the coming time," "Information security for smart cities," "Smart Turku Project Management in Transportation," "Turku City Circular Economy Network Service," and "Smart city design on a multifunctional and flexible basis meets the increasing needs of the people – case studies of public spaces," and "Smart Turku Project Management in Transportation." Participants in the workshop, as well as speakers and experts, discussed and exchanged ideas about the challenges and opportunities for smart and sustainable urban development in Hue, as well as other cities in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Mekong Delta.
