On June 2nd, 2022, Fulbright University Vietnam (FUV) in collaboration with the Research Institute of Climate Change (DRAGON-Mekong Institute), Can Tho University held a consultation workshop on “Challenges and policies of resources management in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta” at the Learning Resource Center, Can Tho University. 

The goal of the workshop was to identify the most serious challenges and develop adaptive solutions and policy recommendations based on scientific evidence in the Delta.The workshop brought together representatives from Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Institute of Socio-Economics and Farmers' Union at Can Tho City, Vietnam Federation of Trade and Industry (Can Tho branch), Mekong River Hydrology Center, and Can Tho University. Representatives from businesses and farmers from different hydrological zones of the Delta were also invited.

At the conference, Dr. Le Viet Phu, Research Manager of the Natural Capital Management Project at FUV gave a brief introduction to the Natural Resource Management project. Dr. Tran Anh Thong, a researcher at FUV presented the results of finding research gaps in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta. Besides, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Van Pham Dang Tri, Director of DRAGON-Mekong Institute presented the challenges and policies of natural resource management in the Delta. The workshop was followed by a discussion among participants about pressing concerns, as well as the exploration of potential solutions.
