Participation in the exhibition fair on climate change adaptation in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta
The Research Institute for Climate Change (DRAGON-Mekong Institute), Can Tho University, participated in exhibiting science and technology results and products to adapt to climate change on October 21, 2022 at the "Exhibition of products and solutions to adapt to climate change in the Mekong Delta". The fair was held in Can Tho City and was organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Can Tho branch. It was attended by more than 28 businesses and units from the Mekong Delta and beyond, as well as representatives from agencies, departments, and businesses.
At the fair, a variety of items and strategies for coping with the effect of climate change from the Institute's scientific research programs and projects and international cooperation were on display, including: books, scientific publications, manuals, guides, maps and models to predict saltwater intrusion and flooding in the Mekong Delta, a system to support climate change adaptive land management (PALUMCA) and an integrated information system to support production management. agricultural export…. Numerous people have stopped by the Institute to view its products, engage in conversation about them, and express a desire to work with it in the future.
Besides participating in the event "The fair of products and solutions to adapt to climate change in the Mekong Delta", Assoc. Prof. Dr. Van Pham Dang Tri, Director of the Research Institute for Climate Change and a few other Institute members attended forum "The impact of drought and salinity on economic development and enterprises in the Mekong Delta - Adaptation solutions". The forum paid special attention to the current situation and effects of drought and salinity on the Mekong Delta region and forecasts for the future. As a result, solutions were proactively proposed and found to reduce the risk of natural disaster risks, limit their damage and long-term response to the negative impacts of climate change, focusing on businesses and the private sector.
This is a significant sequence of events and distinguishes out as the first climate change adaptation products fair to take place in the Mekong Delta. The Research Institute for Climate Change is hosting a series of events in which it hopes to establish relationships with businesses that will help with disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation efforts... These activities will be used to find solutions and production models for sustainable development in the Mekong Delta.
