Training: Cloud computing data analytics and datacube technology for EO applications
Organizers: Can Tho University (CTU), Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia, Boeing Company, USA
Date: 06 – 08/03/2023
Within the framework of the Remote Sensing Application project in cooperation between the US Boeing Company and the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) to develop scientific capacity in the field of remote sensing and remote sensing applications in enterprises in Vietnam. Research Institute for Climate Change, Can Tho University in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City Space Technology Application Center (STAC/VNSC) and RYNAN Technologies Vietnam Joint Stock Company organized a training: Cloud computing data analytics and datacube technology for EO applications on 06 – 08/03/2023 at Can Tho University.
The training was directed by Mr. Matt Paget, CSIRO "EASI" SE Asia technical manager, and supervised by Dr. Minh Nguyen, CSIRO Senior Research Scientist and Associate Professor (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), and Associate Professor. Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), The Vice Rector of Can Tho University intends to use EO cloud-based data analysis and applications using CSIRO's EASI technology and open source datacube; to broaden the scope of technical aspects of the data/knowledge integration system connecting selected capabilities and resources between research, industry, and government organizations; to identify current competencies/resources and teams interested in developing future applications.
Mr. Matt Paget guided participants at the training session
The 3-day training session runs from March 6 to 8,2023, and includes sessions such as: EO-cloud data collection, open datacube and python notebooks; how cloud computing technology and data/knowledge integration platforms help you get the job done; designand expand the data/knowledge integration platform.
At the training session, participants were introduced to the EASI JupyterLab CSIRO platform hosted on Amazon Web Services Singapore, python software library, geospatial and datacube needed in EASI JupyterLab. Participants practiced editing the programming language under the detailed guidance of Mr. Matt Paget and the support team to retrieve and calculate data such as water quality, crop health based on the programming code available in the CSIRO EASI JupyterLab library.
Participants practice under the guidance of a team of experts
