Overview of the Mekong Media Field trip

Research Institute for Climate change (DRAGON-Mekong), Can Tho University and Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) are jointly offering a Mekong Media Field Trip to journalists and communicators from Vietnam and Thailand.

Thailand and Vietnam have shared various common natural-ecological characteristics. The Mekong River flows through the two countries and has been providing key resources for socio-economic development. Global climate change ranks among top worst issues risking the sustainability of both Thailand and Vietnam.

This motivates DRAGON-Mekong to develop the plan for the field trips in Chiang Rai, Thailand and Can Tho, Vietnam from 29 February to 06 March 2024, engaging journalists and communicators from two countries who are highly interested and recognised in terms of the Mekong region transboundary issues and sustainable development under climate change impacts.

The field trip aims to strengthen public awareness of the climate-induced shared challenges in the Lower Mekong region, highlight existing and potential activities to address them, and facilitate information-sharing among Mekong journalists and scientists.
