The consortium of ACARDIS (the Netherlands) and the Research Institute for Climate Change, Can Tho University (DRAGON – Mekong Institute) is going to execute activities related to “Communication and Dissemination”, a component of a joint strategy with the Dutch government-funded project called “Governance of Land Subsidence and Groundwater Management in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta, Vietnam”.

On June 21, 2020, at the Research Institute for Climate Change, Can Tho University (DRAGON-Mekong Institute), the research team led by Associate. Professor. Doctor Van Pham Dang Tri - Vice Director of DRAGON Institute had an online meeting with the members of ACARDIS to discuss activities related to “Communication and Dissemination”.

The overall objective of the project is to increase awareness of managers, scientists and companies regarding the issues of groundwater depletion and land subsidence.

Project period: from June, 2021 to December, 2021

Main activities:

  • Redefining Community of Interest (CoI) and Community of Practice (CoP) in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta in line with merging the existing MekongNet network.
  • Maintaining the Community of Interest (CoI) and Community of Practice (CoP) through the existing MekongNet via a Facebook fan-page to share information, new policies, ideas between CoP members and so on through related coffee dialogs, seminars.
  • Organizing regional seminars to discuss scientific issues related to the depletion of groundwater resources and land subsidence in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta as well as to identify solutions to improve implementation capacity in terms of sustainable groundwater resources development.
