On 04/03/2023, the training activity "Improving environmental protection capacity for young people in Can Tho city" was conducted at the Thuc Hanh Su Pham High School with the goal of guiding methods of solid waste classification and composting from probiotics. The activity is within the framework of the topic of the same name under the sponsorship of the Office of Culture and Educational Information of the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the DRAGON-Mekong Institute, the Delegation of CTU and the Thuc Hanh Su Pham High School, Can Tho University.
Attending the training were representatives of Thuc Hanh Su Pham High School. Huynh Thi Thuy Diem - Vice Principal of the school, MSc. Luu Trong Huynh - Deputy Secretary of the school delegation, and Mr. Robert Patrick Tuori - Visiting teacher from the United States. Attending the event, there was Ms. Nguyen Thi Tram Anh - Secretary of the school delegation, Ms. Quach Thi Kim Man - Director of Biology Club, Ms. Vo Thi Huynh Nhi - Teacher, Thoi Lai High School and Dr. Dinh Diep Anh Tuan - Chief of Staff, DRAGON-Mekong Institute.
The activity attracted more than 100 students at the Thuc Hanh Su Pham High School. Although this is the first event organized by students participating in the project, after their efforts, the event took place in a good way, bringing useful information from games integrating messages about environmental protection and climate change. During the activity, the students were introduced to useful knowledge about domestic waste sorting and composting methods from probiotics, they also participated in small games as well as large game series with the goal of strengthening their knowledge of the introduced methods. The approach is quite close to the students, and not too difficult to try at home. After the success at THSP, the project expects the next activity at Thoi Lai High School to take place even better.
