On 7 April 2023, the closing ceremony of the training program "Capacity Building for young people to Protect the Environment in Can Tho City" was held at the Learning Center, Can Tho University (CTU), to summarize activities and award certificates to students who have participated in this program. The actions are under the sponsorship of the Department of Culture, Information, and Education of the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. This event also cooperates with the Climate Change Research Institute, CTU Youth Union, Pedagogical Practice High School, Thoi Lai High School, Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Thoi Lai district, and Thoi Lai district representatives.
Participants included Mr. Aaron Huang - Deputy Consulate General of the United States at Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Phan Trung Hieu - Deputy Head of Thoi Lai district's Natural Resources and Environment Department, Dr. Huynh Thi Thuy Diem - Vice Director of Pedagogical Practice High School, and MSc. Nguyen Thi Tram Anh – A secretary of Thoi Lai High School. On the side of CTU, there was the attendance of Assoc. Dr. Van Pham Dang Tri - Director, Dragon-Mekong Institute and MSc. Tran Thi Thuy Tien - Secretary of the Youth Union of the School.

The training program was conducted in Ho Chi Minh City from October 2022 to March 2023. Can Tho. Training activities in phase 1 of the program were implemented at Can Tho University from 23 to 25 December 2022, attracting 77 students to attend. Training activities in phase 2 were carried out at Pedagogy Practice High School (on 4 March 2023) and Thoi Lai High School (on 18 March 2023), with 36 students of the university participating and about 150 students from both high schools attending.
Additionally, Dr. Huynh Thi Thuy Diem – A Pedagogical Practice High School representative, shared about the importance of raising young people's awareness of environmental protection and expressed gratitude for the meaningful activities from that project.

Project activities at both high schools have transferred helpful knowledge to students about environmental protection, domestic waste classification, how to make biological products, and composting methods from biological products. This event was also interesting for students to participate in quick answer games with prizes, team building games, etc. This action helped them improve their teamwork skills and supported them in transferring theory and practice. Good support for students has improved their capacity to contribute to environmental protection in the future.

After the training course, the students improved their awareness and capacity to protect the environment and toward climate change adaptation. The students were paying more attention and interest to teamwork, speaking, and communication skills on issues for young people. In addition, when participating in phase 2, students can get more experience in real-life and the necessary knowledge requirements through this community project. That will be the motivation to help the students have creative ideas and enthusiastic spirits to already active in the community in the future.
